Episode 17.
This week, I’m skipping the circles of hell, despite some strong contenders. Maybe in a future episode. For now, the focus finally shifted to something long overdue: the website.
I refreshed the homepage photos, simplified the about page, and added a few galleries that had been sitting in drafts for far too long. Looking back, the last two months were… a bit much.
Still not an excuse to let the website gather dust.

Music Of The Week
Browsing Reddit on Tuesday evening – looking for food recommendations for the weekend – I stumbled upon a topic about the best/favourite Slovenian albums. A proper rabbit hole, and a reminder that I’ve only scratched the surface.
On that note, here are a few that stuck with me:
- Maček Muri & Muca Maca by Neca Falk
- Odpotovanja by Tomaž Pengov
- Cocktail by Marko Brecelj
- The Girl Who Was… Death by Devil Doll
- U Moru I Plamenu by Zoran Čalić Band
- Pop Idoli by Zablujena Generacija
- Pol S by Tribute 2 Love
- Trnow Style by Klemen Klemen
- Sponzorska Plata by Slon & Sadež
- Zdravo je biti divji by Res Nullius
- Živo by Vlado Kreslin & Momento Cigano
- Na Liniji by I.C.E.
- Kastalija by Avven
- The Unspeakable World by Shadow Universe
- Jardier by Jardier
- Plata by Koala Voice
…and so many more.
Mission impossible? Picking my favourite Siddharta or Dan D album.
Rh-, especially the Bloodbag edition, has a special place with me. I spent years tracking it down. Petrolea and VI are “the hidden gems”, that I listen to most often, but Nomadi and X are where I feel the most at home.
The black DNA D album? What I would give to hear the entire album live. Ure letenja za ekstravagantne ptice, nowhere to be found on streaming services, but possibly the one that has to be on the list, but then again, Knjiga pohval in pritožb is where my heart is at.
The amount of extraordinary music we have is something to be genuinely grateful for.
Song of the week? Kar je staro se novo zdi by Martin Krpan.
#zahranogre is back
After multiple recommendations, I finally made it to Brlog – and made a deal with myself to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.
I went fully Italian: arancini with lemon mayo and shrimp to start, lasagna for the main, Tiramisu for dessert. We also tried gnocchi with blue cheese and sage, paired with Šipon by Verus.

The mains didn’t quite live up to expectations, but portions, fair pricing, great music, and genuinely good service balanced things out. Still a very enjoyable experience – and I’ll be back to try their weekly lunches.
PS: Raw Pasta updated the menu. P.P.P. and Monzese are back – which makes me a very happy person.
That’s Episode 17. Thanks for reading.
See you next Monday.
