How do I book you to shoot a concert?
Email me at marko@alpner.com or use the Contact page and pick your favourite option. Tell me the date, the artist, the venue, and what kind of photographs you are looking for – press, socials, promo or BTS. I’m based in Ljubljana and shoot across Slovenia and the region. For tours or anything bigger, reach out early; the calendar fills up rather quickly.
Are you available outside of Ljubljana/Slovenia? What about Zagreb?
Yes. I’m based in Ljubljana, but I’m available for one-off concerts or short tours across the region – Zagreb, Vienna, Graz, Pula, Trieste and beyond. Most of it is a few hours from Ljubljana, so travel is rarely the problem.
What does concert photography cost?
There’s no fixed price list, and I’d be lying if I gave you one. It depends on my availability, the scope of the work, travel, the deadline, and what you need the photos for. Tell me what you have in mind and I’ll give you a number. If you have a limited budget, maybe start with that.
What’s your turnaround time for photos after a show?
Photos are usually delivered by noon the next day. If you need a few frames for socials the same night, straight from the venue, that can be arranged – just let me know before the show, not during.
Do you work with venues and promoters, or only with bands?
All of the above, no preference. I’ve worked with promoters, venues, sponsors, brands, bands, and media – web and print.
Do you shoot festivals?
Yes, and not just as a shooter. I was the head of photography at Metaldays in Tolmin and Velenje, and I’ve shot Bluesland, Kamfest, and Winter Days of Metal. These days I’m at the Tolminator festival for the 3rd year in a row, and it’s my 2nd year at Godibodi. Multi-day festivals are a different animal from a club show – if you’re running one and need coverage, or someone to run the photo team, let’s talk.
What’s it like working with you at a show?
Low maintenance. Tell me the goal, give me a rough timeline or setlist, an email address to send the photos to, and a deadline. I’ll take it from there – no babysitting required.
How many concerts have you shot?
I’ve been shooting live music since 2012, with 850+ concerts under my belt. I’ve also been keeping a running list of every show. Have a look at Concerts in 2026 and Concerts in 2025 – artist, venue, month by month.
How can I license or use your photos?
Shoot me an email at marko@alpner.com and let’s figure out what you need and what I can offer. Editorial, press, socials, print, commercial – they’re all different conversations. Concert photos also involve the performers’ rights, so anything commercial needs a chat first.
Can I get a print of one of your concert photos?
You can. There’s no dedicated shop yet, but reach out and we’ll find something and get it printed and shipped to you.
What gear do you shoot with?
I’m not a typical gearhead, but I try to use the best equipment for the assignment. I’m mostly familiar with the Sony brand, but also use DJI, Canon, etc. Concert work mostly means fast glass and clean high ISO – dark rooms, no flash, no second takes.
Only got the first three songs, no flash. Is that enough?
I’d rather not use flash anyway – it flattens the light and annoys everyone in the room. The three-song rule is another story. I can work within it, and often do, but if you want a story rather than three minutes of the intro, give me the whole show. That’s where the good frames are – more access, better story.
Do you shoot anything besides concerts?
Pre-pandemic, I was mostly a concert photographer, but I’ve expanded my skills to other genres of photography as well.
Documentary style persists, but I’ve covered sports events and weddings, shot many portraits, cars, etc.
Where can I ask something else?
