S01E07 – Anything But Therapy

Episode 7.

Written days in advance, fully convinced this episode would go out on time – only to move it into a long list of drafts and start from scratch. Reasons? Many. The catalyst? A morning text from a friend.

How’s you?

Lately, I’ve been dreading this exact question. It’s quietly losing headspace and mental energy over it. Most people expect a polite OK, but I’ve never been much for small talk.

Do I reply with a well-worn joke? Something motivational, followed by a polite counter-question? Should I lean into our national pastime and start complaining? All would be honest, brief, and reasonably entertaining. At least, I like to think so.

I started typing. One paragraph. Two. Three. Delete. Start again.

A few long paragraphs later, staring at a wall of text, I rolled my eyes. Did my friend deserve a dump of half-processed emotions, recent events, and personal battles – all over text? Hell no.

Swamped. Lunch Thursday? My treat.

Sent. Still, I’ve been asking myself that question since 7 AM, and here I am in the late evening without a real answer. It probably shouldn’t be this complicated.

Do The Thing

Slowly and carefully doing the thing.

Highlight(s) Of The Week

  • A much-needed beer with coworkers.
  • The first careful bike ride after the accident – 90 minutes of pure joy.
  • People who ask “How’s you?” and actually care about the answer.
  • Meeting one of my favourite artists and discussing a possible collab.
  • A whisky tasting mentioned and linked above.
  • Delicious food in #zahranogre section, with even better company.

Music Of The Week

Siddharta’s Črnobelo and Hladno Pivo’s Nije sve tako sivo were both a cornerstone of last week’s soundtrack, while Tokac of Dan D demolished it with V tvojih očeh from the iconic black album Dna D.

Added some Pink Floyd in the mix with Burning Bridges from Obscured by Clouds and The Crystal Ship by The Doors. A strange bunch? Maybe this is the answer I was looking for earlier.

Album? Mrk by Mrk, fresh as they come. Slightly annoyed I missed the official release in Koper, but I won’t make that mistake next time.

Pizzeria Valerie

I’ll admit it, you know it: my standards for food are high – sometimes too high. Valerie is one of those rare places where consistency, good service, and fair pricing actually come together, and I do consider myself a regular. Extra pepperoncini, chilli sauces by Fotrovi Čiliji, and a glass of Livon Friulano do taste like a much-needed hug.

Gostilna Ivan

A recommendation from a friend, plus some well-deserved buzz in foodie circles, was enough to book a Thursday night tasting menu. Four courses, generous portions, excellent flavours, and service that went above and beyond. Genuinely blown away and can’t wait to be back.

That’s Episode 7. Sorry for being late.
See you next Monday.
