Starting the year with Marko from EtOH, Whisky Club Slovenia, our hosts Broken Bones and various distilleries from across the globe. With a lineup consisting of Lochlea, Pōkeno, Nc’nean, Raasay*, Wireworks and High Coast, we visited multiple countries, learned some interesting facts and tasted some young but delicious drams.
My absolute favourite – High Coast Silent Mills Collection 01. Slightly higher ABV, just the right amount of peat, with a bourbon cask profile – proof that young whisky can be truly impressive.
Sadly, the price confirms my not-so-wallet-friendly taste: around €90 for a 0.5 l bottle is a bit of a stretch. Delicious, yes. Sensible? Debatable.
