Episode 10.
A long Monday, and as I often say, “Ni težko, kar se mora.” So here I am, writing this past my usual bedtime. Sleep? Soon.
Looking back at my calendar and camera roll, it was an extraordinary week – mostly family and social time, good food, and a deep dive into some special whiskies.
From sharing a few special drams with my friend Rok, to driving to Zagreb solely to support Ivan and Hrvatsko Whisky Društvo (CWS) at a private tasting event, where I finally tried some expressions that had been on my wishlist for some time.
I must admit – I now fully understand the love for Daftmill. I can already feel the future damage to both my wallet and my liver. Sorry, not sorry.
Besides that: sold some LEGO, joined a Carnival-themed Vitamin Well Run Club event, celebrated Bine’s birthday, had properly spicy Indian food with my sister, and confirmed that I’m nowhere near as good at Call of Duty 2 as I remember. Shoutout to my coworkers for the LAN party nostalgia.
Do The Thing
Zakaj so ‘freelancerji’ brez bontona obsojeni na propad
Not my first – and probably not my last – podcast appearance. I joined Episode 9 of the freeLENSerji podcast with Goran Vadlja Kamenjašević and Uroš Bitenc. Thank you for the invite.
I genuinely enjoyed the conversation. We covered freelancing, boundaries, etiquette, and a few lessons from the past years.

Low-darks Of The Week
- Tried to dress up as a dinosaur for the Vitamin Well Run, only to realize my adult L-sized costume is way too small.
- Rediscovered the joy of security denying access to an event I was hired to shoot, despite all the accreditations and passes.
- No new posts on my website, just some ‘borrowed’ coffee-related content with a few morning photographs.
- Restaurants that ran out of menu items, but poorly communicate it.
Song Of The Week
Whisky by Tejon Street Corner Thieves.
Album? Honestly, didn’t take the time to enjoy one full album this past week. I do need to check out Elliot Greer’s Fragments and Clawfinger’s Before We All Die, though.

Doughnuts, episode II.
As promised in the previous episode, Raw Pasta delivered something special: a carbonara doughnut. Gloriously salty, rich, and slightly absurd — in the best possible way. I still don’t understand why savoury doughnuts aren’t more of a thing. I’ve seen fried chicken versions floating around Instagram, so maybe an Alpi Štručka – Carnival Edition next year?
An unexpected snowstorm and shovelling duties on Friday ruined plans for a few additional tastings. They’ll happen soon enough! Really sorry, Martin.
A few more notes from the week:
Huda.
Awesome pizzeria with an impressive wine selection, but that repeating absence of menu items is becoming a nuisance. Sad.
Luta
Best coffee place in Zagreb. In love with the place, vibes, service, and the coffee – perfection.
Boogie Lab
One of the few places open on a Sunday morning – which explains why it’s always packed. Sandwiches and savoury snacks? Excellent. Sweet pastries? Not quite there.
Projekt Burger & Raw Pasta
Staples of consistency – I appreciate you.
That’s Episode 10. Thanks for staying along.
See you next Monday.
