    Generator, Kino Šiška

I last saw Generator in 2018, back when I could still attend a concert without a camera – and I still remember it as one of the highlights of the Slovenian music scene. When they announced the concert at Kino Šiška, it went immediately in the calendar. So when Arni asked if I was available…

One of the most influential composers of his generation, where classical music meets modern electronics. Most famous for his film scores, from Arrival, Shutter Island to The Last of Us. An evening to remember.

    Flirrt, Kamnik

As a Kamnik native, I can’t believe this was my first time photographing an event at Kamnik Sports Hall. My second Flirrt show too – stepping in for Rok Breznik, who was occupied elsewhere, and a warm-up of sorts for their big show in Maribor. Exciting! Light design by Amadej Šuperger. Gear used Sony A7III…

    Gal Golob Trio, Klub CD

The Gal Golob Trio was my last set of the evening at Klub CD, with Efim Brailovskiy on alto saxophone, Gal Golob on cello and electronics, and Florian Fischer on drums. Simple, almost folk-like melodies with open improvisation – a distinctive and coherent. A few moments below. Gear used Sony A7III (ILCE-7M3) FE 24-70 F2.8…

    Maj Kavšek 4tet, Minor Flaw

Maj Kavšek presented his debut project Minor Flaw at Klub CD, joined by Boštjan Simon on tenor saxophone, Tjan Šoštarič on bass, and Kristijan Krajnčan on drums. The music of everyday sounds and small imperfections, not as mistakes but as character. Subtle, attentive and confident set of the second band of the evening. Moments below.…

David Mozetič Quintet, Being & Becoming

David Mozetič brought his Being & Becoming album to the stage of Klub CD with a strong band: Marko Čepak Maki on guitar, Blaž Pahor on piano, Ilj Pušnik on bass and Gašper Peršl on the drums. First of four bands that evening, they set the bar high and made for a very enjoyable Tuesday…

  • Ranr, Ljubljana

    Ranr, Ljubljana

An authentic young band from Maribor I’d never seen live, playing at the Ljubljana Castle Jazz Club? Sign me up. Sounded like a perfect Friday night—and it was. A charismatic front(wo)man, strong backing vocals, and a tight band throughout, Ranr exceeded my high expectations. Waiting on a full album! Gear used Sony A7III (ILCE-7M3) FE…

  • Žan Serčič, Na ulicah srca

    Žan Serčič, Na ulicah srca

Žan is an awesome human being. Meeting him in person for the first time at Odiseja’s big stage, thanks to Nika Records, I was surprised by how approachable and positive he is. The occasion – presentation of his fourth album, Na ulicah srca, hosted by Peter Poles, in the shape of a live podcast that…
