S01E06 – Anything But Therapy

Episode 6.

It’s mildly ironic writing a weekly newsletter called Anything But Therapy when this entire week has been exactly that – therapy. Just not the kind I originally had in mind. Sigh.

Recovering from a broken finger, limiting physical activity, and processing unexpected news turned out to be a bit much. Not fully there yet, but I’m proud of asking for help instead of trying to battle it out on my own. It’ll take some time, though.

Hidde Douna, also known as @growthbyvisuals’s Note is something I revisit daily. It helps put things into perspective and forces me to step back.

Problems and challenges aren’t going anywhere. The only variable is how we choose to handle them.

I’m still here. Still kicking – just a little more carefully. Enough with the drama, days are getting longer, summer’s getting closer. Happy beeps.

Only one new post last week: Gliste, Gala Hala – not much, but it counts.

I also updated the website menu, added search, and a direct newsletter link. Small improvements, but useful ones. Next up: finally finishing and publishing a couple of drafts that are almost there.

Do The Thing

Didn’t do the thing: seven days of NOT running and NOT cycling. Way harder than most people would expect, especially in the moments when the pain fades. Just an hour of Z2 on the trainer? Pretty please. Maybe in a few days.

My poor Strava streak. Sad, but recovery comes first. Ish.

Let-down(s) Of The Week

  • My Instagram publishing inconsistency – just horrible.
  • Ms Anita from the highlights section of the previous episode – sigh.

Music Of The Week

If I have to pick just one? Live version of Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down by The Mavericks. What a performance.

If I can pick two? Thum & Applefish by Violet Grohl.

Full album? This time it’s Laurence Jones, who released On My Own past Friday. Worth a listen!

#zahranogre – app edition

With stricter calorie limits in place, desperate measures are inevitable. For the first time in ages, I’m actually counting calories.

I’ve been trying out Yazio, and despite the aggressive gamification, it does the job. Smart notifications, solid nutrition insights, weight and fasting tracking, plus Garmin integration make the paid version surprisingly tempting.

Also, I can blame my friend Žiga for introducing me to yet another food-related app: Beli. It doesn’t look promising at first, but its ranking system and algorithm positively surprised me. For someone who eats out often, it’s dangerously addictive – revisiting and rating places you already know can be a fun trip down the memory lane.

That’s Episode 6. Thanks for reading.
More next Monday.
