Concerts in 2025, the list

57 concerts. Two festival-ish. Twelve nights at Cankarjev dom. Twenty-six shows with Siddharta. And, as mentioned in my newsletter, very much a year of orchestras.

Picking a favourite feels about as useful as choosing a favourite whisky. Honestly, I enjoyed every single show on this list. Some evenings started a little moody, but they all ended the same positive way. Happy Marko, happy client. I’m still disappointed I couldn’t cover Tolminator in full, but I’ll be back this year to make up for it.

Arena Stožice with Siddharta was easily the biggest and most demanding production of the year, and I’m incredibly proud of what the team delivered. On the opposite end of the scale, their special concert on the roof of Val 202 was the most unique – what a location. I’m still not entirely sure how I earned a place alongside this band.

Only two Koala Voice shows this year, but both unforgettable and bursting with energy. I love their records, but seeing them live adds a completely different dimension. Greg Black & Bad Notion released an album with graphics with the material we shot a year earlier and presented it at Kavarna Cukrarna – one of Ljubljana’s most underrated venues. Great show, great album, with a really nice cover.

Not many international bands this year, if I’m not counting the festival in Tolmin. I got the opportunity again to shoot Tarja, who was performing with Marko Hietala from Nightwish in Kino Šiška. Also, Gogoll Bordello is a band you don’t miss when they come to the neighbourhood.
